Robor staff host Mandela Day birthday party for Farramere Gardens Nursery Centre

The 18th of July has unofficially become known as Mandela Day. On this day the former president of South Africa Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela's birthday is celebrated globally with acts of kindness and people the world over donate 67 minutes of their time to welfare organisations.
This year as part of the 'Robor Cares' staff initiative, employees at Robor's Elandsfontein site, together with 'Yummy Tummy' and the Food Bank of South Africa, hosted a soup kitchen and birthday party for children at the Farramere Gardens Nursery Centre.

The Food Bank of South Africa is a NGO redistributing donations from large retailers to more than 1000 beneficiaries throughout the country. "Although we receive generous donations, the need for food far outweighs what we are able to give" said Raymond Tolasay, the Johannesburg Branch Manager of Foodbank. "When Robor approached us to identify a feeding scheme on the East Rand, I immediately thought of Yummy Tummy who do fantastic work on the East Rand, feeding hundreds on a weekly basis in Lindelani, Kingsway and at the Government Village in Benoni" he said.

The Farramere Nursery Centre operates as a non profit organization from the Government Village in Benoni where they care for around 60 children. "Several destitute families live here and we try our best to care for children from all walks of life" said Anna Kaba the prime caretaker. "We are desperate for children's books, stationery and educational toys" she continued.

The Robor staff donated cupcakes, party packs and soup ingredients with a few employees visiting the Centre on Mandiba's Birthday in July
